A straightforward pricing formula for mobile detailers
An estimate system works best when customers can understand its numbers. Avoid presenting the calculator as a guarantee. Define your actual prices using your supply costs, expected labor, overhead and local demand.
Step 1: Set package starting prices
Group similar work into a few choices, such as interior refresh, exterior reset and complete detail. Name what each package includes and exclude services that require special inspection.
Step 2: Adjust for vehicle size
Size changes material usage and time needed. You might apply a fixed vehicle-size surcharge; the actual numbers depend on your workflow. Keep categories easy for customers to recognize.
Step 3: Account for condition
Detailing a maintained vehicle differs from treating neglected carpets or heavy debris. A percentage-based condition adjustment can be easier to maintain than a separate price sheet for every combination. Explain that an owner confirms the appropriate condition level.
Step 4: Add optional services
Seat shampoo, pet hair removal, engine-bay cleaning and odor services can have separate prices. Offer only what your business actually provides.
Formula example
Estimated total = (package price + size adjustment) × condition factor + selected add-ons. For example, using illustrative figures of $120, $30, 1.15 and $35 would yield $207.50. These are examples, not recommended market prices.
Always confirm the work
Final prices can change based on a vehicle inspection, customer requests or scope changes. Make this clear before work begins.
